Maluleka targeting three points against SuperSport

Midfielder George Maluleka says Kaizer Chiefs are targeting all three points against in-form SuperSport United when the teams clash in the Absa Premiership at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs have started the new season with a pair of wins, but come up against a SuperSport side that has beaten Orlando Pirates and BidVest Wits by 3-0 scorelines in their last two games in what will certainly be their toughest test yet.

“It is very important that we get the three points because we playing at home and we need to make sure we have a very high win percentage at home if we want to challenge for the title,” Maluleka told his club’s website.

“To keep the momentum going we need another win although it is still early on in the season, we need to make sure that we start on a good note.

“We have started very well.  We are still coming up and it will be a very intense game with two teams on good form. It is going to be a big game and I am looking forward to it.

“SuperSport have done very well in their last two games scoring six goals without conceding. They are looking good and must be high on confidence.”

Ex-SuperSport midfielder says he is excited to come against his former teammates.

“Playing against players you are familiar with is always a challenge, because you know each other but it is exciting as well,” he says.

“You always need to make sure you at your best for things to come right on the field, I am excited, and I know it’s going to be a challenging game.”

He will also come up against a friend and former teammates in SuperSport goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and admits he is targeting a goal against the Bafana Bafana gloveman.

“Ronwen is the one I am after, him and I always have this competition which started on the training ground when we were teammates,” Maluleka says.

“So when it happens in a game and I score, I feel like I have the upper hand. Nothing against him, work is work, to score is always good for your morale and confidence and I am always happy to help the team out.

“We are close on and off the field, but like I said it’s going to be a battle this weekend and all the friendship goes away when we on the field.”
