Galaxy announce capture of Botswana number one keeper

Nedbank Cup champions TS Galaxy have announced the signing of Botswana number one goalkeeper Ezekiel Morake, who helped to dump South Africa out of the COSAFA Cup on Sunday.

The second-tier side had proudly trumpeted how they clinched the Nedbank Cup with an all-South African squad, but have now looked abroad to bring in another gloveman.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of Botswana international goalkeeper, Ezekiel “Zakes” Morake. The 23-year-old is currently on international duty with his national team in his maiden COSAFA Cup,” Galaxy confirmed on Monday.

Morake saved a penalty from Teboho Mokoena to seal a shoot-out win for The Zebras in their COSAFA Cup quarterfinal following a 2-2 draw. He will next be in action when they face Lesotho in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Morake had an excellent season with Jwaneng Galaxy in the Botswana Premier League as they finished as runners-up in the 2018/19 season, two points behind winners Township Rollers.

He will look to unseat Ludwe Mpakumpaku at TS Galaxy next season.
